As the US campaign heats up, Trump holds a controversial rally at Madison Square Garden in New York, drawing backlash over racist and misogynistic remarks. Harris plans a symbolic rally in Washington ahead of the elections.

Trump's Aggressive Campaign in New York

The United States is in the final week of the electoral campaign with Republican Donald Trump adopting a more aggressive rhetoric, while Democrat Kamala Harris tries to regain momentum with an event at a symbolic location in Washington.

At an event at Madison Square Garden in New York, Trump gave a speech attended by about 20,000 people, during which racist and misogynistic proclamations were made, generating outrage even within his own party. One of the comments that resonated the most was from host Tony Hinchcliffe about Puerto Rico, provoking criticism from figures like Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin.

The New York Times titled the event "a carnival of complaints, misogyny, and racism," recalling some messages issued by participants, such as businessman Grant Cardone suggesting that Kamala Harris is a prostitute. Trump's campaign distanced itself from these comments, claiming they did not reflect the president's stance.

The millions of Puerto Ricans residing in U.S. territory have the right to vote, making the Latino vote a decisive factor in this election. Meanwhile, amid comparisons with past events, Harris's campaign labeled Trump's event in New York as "offensive, dark, and dangerous."

In an attempt to regain ground in the polls, Kamala Harris will hold an event at the Ellipse of the National Mall in Washington, a symbolic place housing important monuments. The Vice President will address the Capitol attack in January 2021, related to Trump supporters, from the same location where it is believed he incited the event.

Harris is expected to speak about the 2021 Capitol attack, for which Trump was indicted, in a context where a 50% increase in eligible voters has been estimated compared to the previous year. For his part, Trump reaffirmed his intention to conduct a massive deportation campaign during his speech at the event, which has been described as extremely radical by media outlets like CNN.
